Since the year is coming to an end my class is supposed to tellwhat tools we have learned on the computer this year. I made a wordle of all of the tools and underneath are the links so you can go and try some of them out.
The other part of our assignment was to pick which of these tools that we think will help us. Both in high school and throughout our lives, and why they are so important. I think Animoto is one of the main ones that I am going to use because, instead of just writing on paper or on the computer, I can go a step further and make a video slide show of what I have learned. I also think Websperation will help me a lot because, instead of just making an idea web on a piece of paper, I can make one online and transfer it to Word once I’m ready to write .I also think youtube will help me especially now that
I know how to be safe on it. It can help me to understand something if I don’t understand part of a subject. There are great videos there to help me. What tools do you like to use?
Across the world people are turning off electricity to save our animals, our trees and our land. We are celebrating earth day. This day people turn out their lights and any electrical devises you can turn off for an hour. This is happening March 27 from 8:30 to 9:30. This is a day we celebrate together it is not only for the planet but also for the people. It brings us closer to each other playing card games, hide and go seek and lots of other things.Lets hope we make a difference and we think more about our world and what is inside it. I hope to see lots of other peoples posts about earth hour from Blogging Challenge 4.
This week it is Challenge 5for the blogging challenge we have to write a post about creative commons. For all you who don’t know what creative commons is. It is when people tell you what you can or cannot do with something they own on the Internet. I know of lots of places that have pictures or music that you can use if you follow their conditions, like whether you can share or remix it. My class uses a lot of flickr images and if you have read my other posts you might have noticed at the bottom of all of them I have credited each picture. Also if you have ever been on flickr and you scroll down and see it says all rights reserved you can’t use it. If it says some rights reserved, click on it and see what you can and cannot do with it. On my blog I have a creative commons license and I got this one because I think that nobody should be aloud to use my work without my permission.

We have been doing some writing in our class and we were supposed to make a poem that had a simile, metaphor, personification, onomatopoeia and alliteration in it. For anybody that doesn’t know a simile is a sentence with like or as so you are comparing somethings to somethings else here is a example, On stormy day the waves are as tall as a tower. In this sentence there is also alliteration which has two of he same sounds like the waves whirled with madness because there are two w sounds. Another one we learned was personification which is making something like lets say water doing something in human character like the water was still as it watched the shark pass by. that also has a metaphor which has is are was were and then in it for example the ocean was taller than the tower. The last one is onomatopoeia which is something making a sound like crash boom bang like The waves crashed against the beach.

I haven’t read very many books. In fact I don’t really like reading and so when my teacher said we were going to read a book it did not look good for me. It ended up that the book we read, The Crazy Man was great. It wasn’t a big book, but it had lots of description in it. This book is about a girl named Emaline. She Lives in Saskatchewan B.C and she loves her life but some terrible things happen. Her dad leaves and her dog dies, but things don’t look so bad in the future.
My glog below represents one of the themes in The Crazy Man
This week we are moving on to blogging challenge 6! We have to do 2 things for this challenge. We had to add 10 blogs on our blog roll and then write a post about your favorite 5. There are lots of blogs all over the world and how did I choose just 5 to write about? Well I went to a link on Challenge Yourself to Blog and the link was to Bringing Us Together.

This week we are talking to a class in New Zealand, Mr. Webb’s class, Room 8. It is amazing because they are all the way on the other side of the world. Since we are learning a little bit about New Zealand we also learned some Maori. I am guessing you are wondering what that is. It is the native language from there and a mihi is a traditional greeting. My class used a site called Vocaroo to record these and it was really great although I had to do it a few times because it was hard to get all the words right. Well this is my mihi. I hope you like it.

Yum! Pie is great, especially pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving. Lots of people have different traditions for thanksgiving, but these people went over the top. They made the worlds biggest pumpkin pie! This pie weighs 2,020 pounds and is 12 feet 4 inches wide and 4 inches deep. The pie recipe includes 900 pounds of pumpkin, 155 dozen eggs, 62 gallons of evaporated milk, 300 pounds of sugar, 3.5 pounds of salt, 7 pounds of cinnamon and 2 pounds of pumpkin pie spice. The pie lost 200 pounds while baking and it made over 3000 pieces. Baking started at 6:00 at night and baked for 5 hours in a custom oven. These people and there ginormous pie were recognized by the Guinness World Record Book.
I wish I had a piece of this pie. It would have been delicious. I think I may want to try and make a giant pie, but I am not sure where I would get all the ingredients and the huge oven. Maybe I would make a apple pie instead of pumpkin! What is your favourite kind of pie?
I found all this great information on this great website.

My school is having an entreprenuer fair. At first I had no idea what that was, but I found out pretty quick. It is a fair where you sell things you made. It was really hard thinking of something to make but I finally got it. I am going to make magnets, but first we have to make a survey and ask people what they would like it to be like. For example, what colour or what size or what shape. We’re surveying people in our school, but my class didn’t think that was good enough so we are all putting a survey on our blogs, too. Please help me find out the best way to make my magnets.
I have learned a lot about Internet savviness and one of the things I learned a lot about was pictures. Like how you should never put a name to a picture because someone could take it and put it on YouTube or any other site. You could never even know and people you have never met in your life start coming up to you and saying your name. And not so good things can also happen. The Internet is great but you have to be safe so remember always be Internet savvy. I can’t wait to see everyone’s avatars from Challenge 2.
